Organizer: Gunars Platais
Format: Onsite-Online, Afternoon
Abstract:
This session will discuss how we might be able to channel the significant amount of financial resources available to the much needed action on the ground in order to achieve the goals (e.g. SDG, +2C world) we have set out in various international conferences on environment and sustainability. This will not be a talking heads type of panel discussion. Rather this alternative format session is organized in an interactive role playing format. Panel experts will provide an initial “setting the stage” commentary and will then serve as an expert sounding board to each of the sub-groups seeking solutions to the sustainability financing problems presented. We will call on a select group of experts and real world leaders to share in their cumulative experience and knowledge of the environment, natural resources, biodiversity, conservation and the interface with the urban environment and how finance (or the lack thereof) makes a difference. How do we bridge the gap between the significant socio-environmental management needs and the financing necessary to make it happen?
