Science for Stockholm+50: Mobilizing for the 2022 UN High-Level Meeting

Join the session, Science for Stockholm+50: Mobilizing for the 2022 UN High-Level Meeting, at 5:00 pm Brisbane time on Monday June 14, 2021.

This panel will bring together policy makers and leading scientists in the Future Earth community to make a call for scientific input to the UN high-level meeting in 2022, “Stockholm+50”. The Stockholm+50 meeting marks 50 years since the United Nations Conference on the Environment in 1972, also held in Stockholm. Over the past half century, global achievements have been made for sustainability targets, constructing roadmaps and advancing agendas for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. And yet, much remains to be done before we are on track to sustainable development. The 2022 meeting will focus on sustainable consumption and production, nature-based solutions, and youth action to achieve the targets we have already set and not yet accomplished, despite all of the efforts made to date.

The Swedish government, host of the high-level meeting, will share the ambition and key themes of the meeting. The high-level panel discussion will focus on scientific goal setting, explore pathways for sustainability science to underpin the 2022 meeting, and inspire the scientific community to participate.
