We recently marked Earth Overshoot Day for 2020, the date when humanity has exhausted nature’s budget for the year. We are now living on borrowed resources and have limited time to make significant advancements to move the date. More than ever, we need sustainability research and innovation to take the lead to ensure a healthy planet for our growing population.
With just ten months to SRI2021, we have already started the Congress preparations, and are deeply committed to delivering a rich and productive meeting experience to all participants. Given the ongoing global pandemic, we are designing our event under exceptional uncertainty, and therefore, we are reaching out to you with a request for help.
We have created a brief participant survey to gather information on your possible participation in SRI2021.
Now that we are all embracing a new-normal of virtual events, working from home, and reduced travel, we are interested in learning about your preferences for attending SRI2021, including your preferred language, session times, time zones, and more.
We are also keen to discover how you would like to engage between now and June 2021. SRI Congress has hosted two Facebook Live sessions recently. One featuring University of Queensland Professor Dr. Grant Hamilton and his innovative koala conservation project. The second featuring indigenous knowledge and conservation experts from CSIRO, Nature Research, The Nature Conservancy, and Firesticks Alliance, who discussed tapping into indigenous knowledge for improved conservation efforts. And we plan to do much more.
Your responses will help us produce lead-up activities and an event that meets your expectations while prioritizing all attendees’ health and safety.
Thank you for staying with us and supporting our efforts to create the foremost action-oriented congress to drive sustainability transformations over the coming critical decade.
