Scholarship

Scholarships for the Main Congress in Panama City, Panama are no longer being accepted. Only scholarship applications to attend the Africa Satellite Event will be accepted until 6 April 2023.

The 2023 Sustainability Research and Innovation Congress (SRI2023) has made a limited number of scholarships available to support both onsite and online participation in SRI2023. 

Preference will be given to applicants with accepted contributions to the SRI2023 program. Application deadline for all SRI2023 Scholarships is 17 March 2023. The deadline for contributions to the SRI2023 program in Panama is 21 December 2022 (please note that the deadline to submit proposals to the Africa Satellite and Asia Spotlight Events is 6 February, 2023). Applicants will be notified in March 2023.

The SRI2023 Scholarships include the following funds and opportunities. Please confirm your eligibility before submitting an application.

Please note that none of the scholarships include visa costs.

All scholarship applications will be processed through the same application portal.

SRI2023-IAI Scholarship for early career professionals residing and working in the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region. Through the scholarships, sponsored by the Inter-American-Institute for Global Change Research (IAI), SRI2023 is promoting early career engagement in the Congress from the LAC region and fostering the next generation of professionals working on sustainability science and innovation.

Who qualifies for the SRI2023-IAI Scholarship?

Students and Early career professionals in sustainability science and innovation from the LAC region.


What is included? 

  1. Onsite scholarship – SRI2023 onsite registration, travel and accommodation, meals at the venue;
  2. Online scholarship – SRI2023 online registration

SRI2023-MRI Scholarship for Conéctate A+ members to support sustainability research in the LAC region. This scholarship is funded by the Cluster of Cooperation – Conéctate A+.

Who qualifies for the SRI2023-MRI Scholarship?

Conéctate A+ members.

What is included?

1. Onsite scholarships only – SRI2023 onsite registration, travel and accommodation, meals at the venue.
2. Online scholarship – SRI2023 online registration (limited number)

SRI Speaker Scholarship for speakers in accepted SRI2023 contributions.

Who qualifies for the SRI2023 Speaker Scholarship?

Speakers from Low and Middle Income Countries in contributions accepted to the SRI2023 program.

What is included? 

  1. Onsite scholarship – SRI2023 onsite registration, travel and accommodation, meals at the venue;
  2. Online scholarship – SRI2023 online registration

SRI2023-NRF Africa Satellite Event Scholarship for participants in the SRI2023 Africa Satellite Event June 20-22, 2023.

Who qualifies for SRI2023-NRF Africa Satellite Event Scholarship?

Early career professionals from the Africa region.

What is included? 

  1. Onsite scholarship – SRI2023 onsite registration, travel and accommodation, meals at the venue (this is only for the Africa Satellite Event in South Africa. The scholarship does not cover onsite registration for the Main Congress in Panama City, Panama)
  2. Online scholarship – SRI2023 online registration

For the Africa Satellite Event, travel grants will be made available based on need for both online and in-person participants. Priority will be given to students and early career scientists and researchers, and professionals from Africa.
